NEW DELHI: The Delhi Government at the 39th board meeting of the Delhi Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board on Monday decided to offer health checkups to construction workers and launch a mobile nursery for their children at construction sites .
“During the meeting, two new programs were announced for construction workers across the capital – Doctor on Wheels, which will provide routine medical screening of construction workers on the job site itself and a mobile crèche staffed state-of-the-art facilities. to provide child care for workers’ children”, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodie said after the meeting.
He added that the government will also update the website of its construction workers welfare council to provide better and easier access to beneficiaries through informative and user-friendly access. The Delhi government had also launched free bus passes for construction workers earlier this year.
“To ensure that only eligible people benefit, the deputy CM also ordered officers to have the social audit carried out by an independent agency. A two-member committee will be formed which will send its proposal to the board for audit,” the government said in a statement.
