Haywood Regional Medical Center appoints CEO


Haywood Regional Medical Center announced that Chris Brown has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective November 28, 2022.

With more than a decade of experience in the healthcare industry, Brown joins Haywood Regional from Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, where he previously served as interim chief operating officer (COO) and CEO.

“We are thrilled to welcome Chris to Haywood Regional Medical Center as CEO,” said Jamie Carter, president of the East Division of Lifepoint Health. “Chris began his healthcare career as a technologist and registered nurse and understands the daily intricacies of a hospital and patient care. He is a detail-oriented leader with years of experience in healthcare operations. We know Chris will positively lead the Haywood team as they continue to provide quality care in Clyde and the surrounding area.

During his tenure as COO and interim CEO of Frye Regional, Brown oversaw the financial performance, strategic planning and day-to-day operations of the facility. He was integral in overseeing service line operations and growth projects and collaborations between the emergency and laboratory departments. Prior to Frye Regional, Brown served as COO at Starr Regional Medical Center in Athens and Etowah, Tennessee, where he oversaw regular operations and implementation of a telestroke program and other programs. Brown also served as Associate Administrator at Wilson Medical Center at Duke Lifepoint in Wilson.

Brown holds associate degrees of applied science in radiologic technology and nursing from Edgecombe Community College and Nash Community College respectively, a bachelor’s degree in health services management from East Carolina University, and a master’s degree in administration. of Business from Fayetteville State University. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is a Certified Patient Safety Professional.
