NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi North Central Bronx and its CEO, Christopher Mastromano, honored more than 100 employees on May 12 who achieved certification in LGBTQ Health Equity, an intensive training program from 7 hours aimed at increasing basic skills in LGBTQ health service delivery.
According to hospital officials, the Jacobi campus is one of the sites with the highest number of completions for the program within the NYC Health + Hospitals healthcare system. The campus includes eleven acute care facilities and several community health centers.
As reported last October, Jacobi announced the opening of its brand new Pride Health Center. It serves LGBTQ patients as they receive what has been described as “high quality, culturally competent and respectful care”, in the hospital’s “state-of-the-art facility”.
Hospital officials said at the time that Pride Health Center, located at 1400 Pelham Parkway South in Morris Park, “provides LGBTQ-affirming care for a variety of services, including primary care, to adolescents, OB/GYN, family planning services, behavioral health, dental services, eye care, hormone therapy, testing for sexually transmitted infections and HIV, and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), i.e. drugs taken to prevent getting HIV, and more. Officials added: “Social work support is also available for patients to help with continuity of care. care.”
