In particular, many hospitals in the southern provinces received dengue patients in serious situations who performed life-threatening self-treatments with multi-organ failure, pleural effusion and apnea. Therefore, doctors had to actively perform treatment for them, and some patients have to be put on ECMO.

According to the Department of Medical Services Administration, in the first nine months of the year, 32 medical institutions sent official letters to the Ministry of Health proposing the request for 13,708 infusion bags.

In addition, 25 units have a request for 17,537 dextran 70 infusion bags for dengue shock treatment. However, dextran 40 and dextran 70 infusion bags have not been registered for circulation in Vietnam and importation has encountered difficulties as only a few facilities in Thailand supply both types of infusion bags.

In order to take care of severe dengue fever, the Department of Medical Services Administration sent an urgent official letter to drug import facilities to quickly contact, find the supply and report to the Department to identify the request, sign contracts and carry out the import procedure. .

During the implementation process, relevant units will be instructed to promptly report to the Department of Medical Services Administration to resolve issues in case of difficulties and obstacles.
