MemorialCare Saddleback Medical Center Opens Innovative Women’s Health Pavilion… | New

LAGUNA HILLS, Calif., Sept. 20, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — MemorialCare Saddleback Medical Center, a leading and innovative nonprofit medical center in Orange County, celebrated the grand opening of its upcoming Women’s Health Pavilion. The new, state-of-the-art, three-story, 40,000-square-foot facility, slated to open in 2023 in Laguna Hills, aims to improve the future of women’s healthcare and focus on the needs of women at all the stages of their life.

Leaders, donors, patients and local MemorialCare officials gathered at the construction site today and celebrated the transformation center. As part of the groundbreaking ceremony, it was announced that the Breast Center will be officially named the Sarah & Taylor Nederlander Breast Center thanks to a $2.5 million donation from sisters Taylor and Sarah Nederlander of the Harry J. Nederlander Foundation. The new breast center will allow MemorialCare to nearly double the number of patients served each year.

“We grew up in southern Orange County and were personally touched by breast cancer, with people close to us being diagnosed and fighting courageous battles,” said Sarah Nederlander. “With our donation, we hope to ensure that, especially today, more women in our local community have access to advanced testing, treatment and care.”

The Women’s Health Pavilion at Saddleback Medical Center will provide patients with convenient access to breast care and a range of women’s health services under one roof. The center will provide women with simplified and enhanced care in a comfortable spa-like environment. With access to same-day appointments, short wait times, and accelerated screening results, MemorialCare hopes to transform the future of healthcare and focus on the needs of women.

“Our vision for the Women’s Health Pavilion is to provide a truly innovative and holistic approach to women’s health care for our neighbors and friends in southern Orange County,” said Marcia Manker, CEO of MemorialCare Saddleback Medical Center. “With groundbreaking, we want to be ready to meet the growing needs of the community and expand our capacity and research to provide exceptional care to our community for years to come.”

The Women’s Health Pavilion will also offer personalized care from world-renowned specialists in oncology, women’s health, sexual health, obstetrics and mental health. The Women’s Health Pavilion will feature offerings not available at any other medical center in Orange County, such as the first integrated breast cancer clinic, with a breast oncologist, breast surgeon and a breast reconstruction surgeon under one roof, as well as the only boutique transitional retail site for patients undergoing cancer treatment. As planned, the Women’s Health Pavilion will house the first free-standing pelvic floor rehabilitation clinic with a pelvic floor physiotherapist. Additionally, a maternity space linked to hospitalists and perinatologists at Saddleback Medical Center Women’s Hospital will be featured in the Women’s Health Pavilion. Plans for the Women’s Health Pavilion also include a community education center that will expand educational offerings in health and wellness.

“Women lead busy lives, filled with professional, family, friendship and community obligations while trying to prioritize health and well-being,” said Cathy Han, MD, board chair. of the Saddleback Medical Center Foundation and a retired obstetrician/gynecologist. “They are our inspiration for our new Women’s Health Pavilion. Women’s needs have evolved and so has our care. They take care of everyone, so we want to take care of them.”

This women’s health pavilion will feature modern construction that incorporates sustainable materials, convenient parking, and an outdoor garden for rest and respite, all designed as a haven of comfort and calm. A critical part of the new facility will be the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment that uses the most advanced technology for the early detection and diagnosis of breast cancer, including 3D tomosynthesis digital mammography and breast MRI to accurate imaging. The technologies will be complemented by highly trained personnel, including dedicated breast radiologists, who only read mammograms and are able to detect problems at the earliest stage.
