Community leaders and officials from Webster and Bossier parishes gathered across from Haughton Junior High to join Minden Medical Center and Allegiance Healthcare Management in celebrating the grand opening of a new $7 million multi-specialty clinic that will open in Haughton. It will be the first of its kind in the region.
Jim Williams, CEO of Minden Medical Center, was on hand to greet those who came to join in the celebration. He also expressed his excitement at being able to bring the citizens of Haughton closer to a top quality medical facility that will allow them to access the health care services they need closer to home.
“It will cost nearly seven million dollars to erect this facility. This is a huge investment in the future community of Haughton…There will be primary care, pediatrics, orthopedics, podiatry, EMT and general services, and I can’t tell you at how excited Allegiance Health Management and Minden Medical Center are. able to partner together to provide these services to you and your community,” Williams said.
“As Minden Medical Center just a few miles away, we have a long commitment to providing excellent healthcare closer to you and now with this facility we are going to be able to deliver excellent healthcare closer from your home here in Haughton.
Kim Gaspard, Mayor of Haughton, was also present at the inauguration to share a few words of appreciation on behalf of the Town of Haughton and its community.
“On behalf of the city, it is a pleasure for me to be here to welcome Minden Medical. I remember over two and a half years ago when Scotty first approached us and then all of a sudden COVID hit. Lots of things have happened, lots of changes have been made – the way we do business, the way our lives have been affected – changes that will probably never return to the way they were before, and we’ve learned to deal with it. But this is just one more step in the process, so we are very happy to have Minden Medical on board,” said Gaspard.
“I think one of the best things I know is that they take anyone in this place. It’s one of the reasons they’re here, it’s one of the specialties they have inside. They don’t reject anyone. People who need good medical care will be able to travel a shorter distance.
Finally, Rock Bordelon, President and CEO of Allegiance Health Management (the company behind the whopping $7.1 million capital investment) addressed the crowd, returning briefly about the origins of AHM, their dedication to providing access to health care to rural America. , and how this investment is helping them achieve that vision.
“In 2001, I started a business called Allegiance Health Management, and it has been my passion, my vision, my commitment to bringing quality care closer to home. To bring services to these small rural communities, so that people in these communities and towns don’t have to struggle with the hustle and bustle and have to drive for hours to get the services they should be able to get nearby at their home. Every time I acquired MMC in 2018 — as I do with every place we go — we’ve identified Haughton as one of those areas where the big guys aren’t going to go,” Bordelon said.
“It is our commitment, our passion, our desire to care for those in need close to home. That’s why we do what we do here, that’s why I’m investing $7.1 million in this community, because you deserve that kind of quality and that kind of care. These doctors can go to Bossier and Shreveport, but they chose to come here. They are committed to helping us take care of rural America.
