MONTCLAIR/GLEN RIDGE, NJ – Mountainside Medical Center’s Highly Trusted Hero Award was created to celebrate local heroes, especially the person or department who goes out of their way to do extraordinary things for patients, members of family and teammates.

This year, the hospital, located in Glen Ridge and Montclair, recognized members of its labor and delivery team with this award. The team, which includes nurses Naomi Sebastien, Sheila Magarino, Tiffany Chavez, Anya Jones and Gabriella Hocta, as well as doctors Jonathan Mintzer and Fares Diarbakerli, responded quickly to the imminent delivery of a very premature baby in the middle of the night. . When the baby, who was only 23 weeks pregnant, could barely wait for delivery when her mother arrived at the facility, this team was ready. Without hesitation and with almost telepathic communication, they sprang into action and seamlessly delivered and stabilized the baby while the other team members prepared for transport. Their collaborative efforts and calm critical thinking saved this baby’s life.
