RAD Technology Medical Systems Partners with Antelope Valley Medical Center for Emergency Department Addition

Aventura, Florida., October 27, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — RAD Technology Medical Systems (RAD), a provider of custom modular healthcare facilities, has partnered with Antelope Valley Medical Center (AVMC), a facility in the Antelope Valley Healthcare District located at Lancaster, Californiato provide them with a modular addition to the emergency department.

The new addition will be 7,200 square feet in size and will be OSHPD-1 certified. The building will include 40 treatment bays, a nursing station and support areas. When completed, the additional emergency room space will allow Antelope Valley Medical Center to better meet its patient demand of approximately 9,000 patients per month.

“This is a highly anticipated project,” said Edouard Mirzabegian, CEO of the AVMC. “The AVMC is the 2nd busiest emergency room in the state; without a doubt, this expansion was necessary to meet the growing needs in this region. As the only level II and ED trauma center (department emergency) approved for pediatric care, we’re excited about this expansion and what it will mean for this community.”

With modular construction, the modules are built offsite in a factory. This benefits the hospital and its community, as it will greatly reduce the amount of disruption a project like this typically has on patients and staff.

“Plant construction is underway and modules are expected to arrive on site this winter,” said Mike Kosinski, RAD’s vice president of construction and field operations. “We are excited to be able to use our modular technology to benefit Antelope Valley Medical Center and the surrounding community.”

“We look forward to the completion of the ED (emergency department) expansion,” said Don Parazo, MD, Antelope Valley Health District Board Member. “This expansion will allow for a more spacious workflow and provide additional support for our patients.”

The addition will be connected to the existing emergency department and located in part of the current ambulance drop-off area. It will look and function as if it had always been part of the original building.

The new addition is expected to be fully operational this spring.
