“Caring for those who have served our great nation in uniform is a top priority for me.”
Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – (HARLINGEN, TX) – U.S. Congresswoman Mayra Flores (TX-34) released the following statement after touring Harlingen Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center:
“Caring for those who have served our great nation in uniform is a top priority for me. Today’s visit to Harlingen VA Medical Center allowed me to see firsthand the great work being done at the facility and to share the constituent concerns my office has received,” said MP Flores. “To me, it was evident that the passion and obvious dedication of management and staff to serving our local veterans was evident. My office will continue to work closely with them to ensure that our country’s veterans receive the care they deserve.
Congresswoman Flores met with Executive Director, Mr. Homero Martinez III, Chief of Staff, Dr. Jennifer Wood, Associate Director, Ms. Yuri Gonzales, and ADPCS/Executive Nurse, Ms. Rebeca Buhidar. The visit to the medical center included visits to administrative areas and medical areas.
Since coming to Congress, Congresswoman Flores has been a fierce ally of veterans and their needs. More recently, she supported and voted ‘YES’ on the Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act,” which has since become law. This law now guarantees that veterans exposed to toxic risks during their military service will be eligible to receive medical care and benefits. For more information on this, Click here.
