(KNSI) – St. Cloud VA Medical Center is participating in National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
A drop box for unused or old prescription drugs is located in the pharmacy section of Building 5. Veterans can use the facility during regular business hours year-round. The public will only have access for one day.
To access the drop box, use the main entrance of Building 1. The campus is located at 4801 Veterans Drive in St. Cloud.
There are several disposal sites open year-round, which can be found on the Drug Enforcement Administration website. The DEA is the agency responsible for the event, which is now in its third decade. A link to the DEA’s prescription drug take-back sites is here.
The goal of the initiative is to absorb unused or unwanted drugs so that they do not end up in the water supply or in the hands of individuals where they will be abused. The pills are incinerated and carefully disposed of after being delivered.
Several regional departments have a drug drop box program, both at the local and county level. A list of all Stearns County sites is here.
