CENTRAL CITY, Neb. (KSNB) – A new multi-million dollar hospital will open in Central City next month.

This project has been in the works for years and on Tuesday night a private donor event and ribbon cutting was held to recognize and thank everyone who helped bring this facility to life.

Merrick Medical Center, located on the Dinsdale Health Campus, is located in the southwestern part of Central City, as people come into town from that direction on Highway 30.

The 22.5 acres of land at the intersection of 15th Road and 28th Street was donated by the Dinsdale family in 2019.

“Central City is on a roll,” said Sid Dinsdale. “People want to live here, that’s why there are so few houses for sale. Leadership matters, community matters, and you are all to be congratulated for building and growing Central City.

Dinsdale said Central City now has a new gateway to the city from the West, the Dinsdale Health Complex.

“My family, my company and our associates are proud to be a part of this, thank you,” Dinsdale said.

The new $27 million facility will feature larger operating rooms, larger patient rooms to accommodate state-of-the-art technology and equipment, and wider doorways and access points that will be more user-friendly. disabled people.

“This is a facility that will provide high-quality, patient-centered health care for decades to come,” said Patrick Avila, CEO of Merrick Medical Center. “I also want to thank those who have worked for decades to make this dream come true, we’ve had a lot of starts and stops to bring this hospital here, and it’s finally here, I can’t think of a better one. location, I can’t think of a nicer facility or a better team to work with.

Bryan Health President and CEO Russ Gronewold said the new Merrick Medical Center has been a long-time vision.

He said now there’s the building, what’s really important is what’s going on inside.

The new hospital is due to open for patients on June 13.
