Winchester Medical Center Receives Joint Commission Full Cardiac Center Certification

Valley Health Heart & Vascular Center at Winchester Medical Center (WMC) has earned a Gold Seal of Approval® for Comprehensive Cardiac Center certification from the Joint Commission, the nation’s oldest and largest standards and accreditation body in matter of health care. WMC is one of 14 facilities in the United States to have achieved CCC certification.

Offered in collaboration with the American Heart Association, Comprehensive Cardiac Center Certification is the premier cardiovascular certification for hospitals that demonstrate high-quality care using evidence-based, guideline-driven treatments and promote collaboration throughout the healthcare system. A team of Joint Commission reviewers recently assessed WMC’s compliance with certification standards for clinical care and program management, and conducted virtual on-site observations and interviews.

“Our cardiac team treats a wide range of conditions, including coronary heart disease and heart attacks, arrhythmias, heart failure and heart valve disease, using a multidisciplinary approach, personalized care and innovative therapies,” said Julie Miksit, RN, BSN, MBA, WMC Vice President of Operations and Service Lines. “Achieving this certification demonstrates the team’s collaboration and commitment to quality care and program excellence.

This is the second time the WMC Cardiovascular Program has received Joint Commission two-year certification. In 2021, Cardiology and Vascular physicians and staff had more than 26,000 patient consultations for cardiovascular diagnostic and treatment services.
